La fine dell’eccezione atlantica e la decolonizzazione dell’Europa

Fin dalla sua fondazione, il Portogallo venne visto, e si vide, come ciò che Eduardo Lourenço, nella sua opera, ha chiamato “insolita eccezione portoghese” (Lourenço, 1999a: 11). Un’eccezione divenuta storicamente norma, costruita prima di tutto in rapporto allo stesso corpo fisico e politico dell’Iberia, e che ha poi portato all’indipendenza del Regno del Portogallo, nell’eccezionale e narrativamente miracolosa, battaglia di Ourique, poi riaffermata nella non meno miracolosa battaglia di Aljubarrota; questa specie di vocazione all’eccezionalità era inscritta nella stessa geografia del paese, sottolineata già in tempi antichi da Zurara nella prima cronaca dell’espansione, la Crónica da Tomada de Ceuta.Since its foundation Portugal has been seen by others and by itself as, in the words of Eduardo Lourenço, an “uncommon Portuguese exception”. An exception that has historically become a norm firstly built upon the relationship with both the physical and political body of Iberia, leading afterwards to the independence of the Reign of Portugal. This independence was perceived as an achievement gained through the exceptional and narratively miraculous Battle of Ourique and reaffirmed then thanks to the equally miraculous Battle of Aljubarrota. This sort of vocation for 'exceptionality' was inherent in the geography of the country itself, as Zurara emphasized in ancient times in the first chronicle of its expansion: the Crónica da Tomada de Ceuta

A partir da poesia de Ana Paula Tavares, procurarei mostrar neste artigo como a dupla premissa do poder e do conhecimento, sobre a qual se ergueu o colonialismo dos séculos XIX e XX, foi femininamente reapropriada, subvertida, desmultiplicada e antropofagizada, revelando outras identidades. Este processo inaugura assim um tempo pós-colonial de possibilidade de acesso e valorização de outros conhecimentos, de outros poderes, expressos noutras línguas, noutros sons, noutras escritas, e hoje transmitidos em língua portuguesa.Through a reading of the poetry of Ana Paula Tavares, I will argue that the power/knowledge binary, based on 19th and 20th century colonialism, has been reappropriated, subverted, multiplied and cannibalized, revealing other identities. This process thus initiates a postcolonial time of possible access and appreciation of other knowledges, other powers, expressed originally in other languages, sounds and writings, and nowadays transmitted through the Portuguese language

Versos e gritos: memória poética da Guerra Colonial

O artigo analisa a memória poética da experiência da Guerra Colonial identificando expressões díspares do poético: poemas de valor predominantemente documental; uma poesia da época que integra a Guerra Colonial e também a expõe pelo canto; e uma poesia de poetas da Guerra Colonial. O arquivo poético construído pela Antologia da Memoria Poética da Guerra Colonial, organizada pelos autores deste artigo demonstra que só o advérbio “Ainda” – aquele com que Manuel Alegre fecha uma viagem sem regresso – mostra como a guerra continua por dentro das palavras, por dentro dos versos, denunciando a profundidade da inscrição da guerra no presente.The article analyzes the poetic memory of the experience of Colonial Wars identifying disparate expressions of poetic: a sort of poems of documentary value; poetry of the era that integrates Colonial War and also exposes the theme on the protest song; and poetry from poets of the Colonial War. The poetic archive made by the Anthology of Poetic Memory Poetics of Colonial Wars, organized by the authors of this article, shows that only the adverb Ainda/ Still –, one with which Manuel Alegre closes a voyage without return – shows how the war of continues inside the words, inside of the verses. It shows the depth inscription of the Colonial Wars in the Portuguese present time

Procura‑se traçar as linhas gerais que no discurso crítico histórico, político, sociológico e literário levaram a considerar a guerra como um fenómeno não exclusivamente masculino. Dentro da situação portuguesa, visa‑se interpretar o “papel de apoio” que sempre esteve reservado às mulheres, de um ponto de vista público e privado, e analisar com mais detalhe a situação das mulheres portuguesas que acompanharam os maridos em missão militar em África, durante o período da Guerra Colonial.This paper seeks to delineate the general lines that, in the historical, political, sociological and literary critical discourse, have led to a consideration of the war as a not exclusively male phenomenon. Concerning the Portuguese situation, the author seeks to interpret the “supporting role” that has always been reserved for women in public and private, and analyze in greater detail the perhaps unprecedented situation of the Portuguese women who accompanied their husbands on military missions to Africa during the period of the Colonial War.Dans cet article, je chercherai à tracer les lignes générales qui, dans le discours critique historique, politique, sociologique et littéraire, ont mené à considérer la guerre comme un phénomène non exclusivement masculin. In this article, based on the analysis of the book Rainhas da Noite by JPBC, I reflect on the importance of women, from diverse colonial elites, in the perception of the colonial situation, its injustice and the formation of its political conscience. I will briefly approach the paths in which they have moved from the private space of the house and family to the public space and of their essential contribution in the spaces of struggle.En este artículo, construido a partir del análisis del libro Rainhas da Noite, de JPBC, reflexiono sobre la importancia de las mujeres, oriundas de élites coloniales diversas, en la percepción de la situación colonial, de su injusticia y de la formación de su conciencia política. Abordaré sucintamente los caminos en que se movieron desde el espacio privado de la casa y de la familia al espacio público y de su contribución esencial en los espacios de lucha.Neste artigo, construído a partir da análise do livro Rainhas da Noite de João Paulo Borges Coelho, reflito sobre a importância das mulheres, oriundas de elites coloniais diversas, na perceção da situação colonial, da sua injustiça e da formação da sua consciência política.
